The Dhahran Techno Valley Business Park rests on a thin strip of land between a renowned university, a global economic engine, a state of the art healthcare institution, well-served by regional transportation infrastructure. Envisioned as a business cluster, it was seen to fill a critical gap by creating countless opportunities for students to find inspired employers, entrepreneurs with spirited ideas, and investors to fund exciting uncharted markets. From a sovereign standpoint, the emphasis on education meeting business, policy and finance showcases the seed of diversification of an oil intensive economy.



Rubaa is the fertile area between the arid hills. The design hinges on the ability to leverage necessary parking to mitigate topography thereby creating walk-able urban space in a climate which is not known for outdoor comfort. Computational fluid dynamic analysis of winds, sun-path analysis and indigenous planning concepts led to a design which favors self shading buildings, breezy cross ventilated walk paths to address heat/humidity, and protection from the northern shamal.
