The Moment House is designed as a series unfolding spaces connected to each other and to the outside. A three-story interconnecting light-filled monumental stairway connects vertically to the sky. A tall pivot entry door opens to views through the space of the green-scape beyond. While the communal spaces are all interlinked vertically and horizontally, there are spaces to escape: a reading niche perched above a double height living room, the master bath cantilevered into the trees, the master bedroom with its own terrace, and a guestroom with its own walk out patio.
Light, shade and shadow on honest natural materials like wood, steel, glass, and stone are composed to create interest in every part of the house and together as a single composition. Clean lines hide the sophistication integrated into this house from the standpoint of thermal, heating and cooling, reuse and landfill reduction, storm water management and daylighting. Smart systems ingrained into the house make it both easy to use and functional.
