KOr.10 won a commission to design 20,000 SF of Hearing Room and Offices. The hearing room space is designed to subdivide into 3 rooms or create one large room using 2 Skyfold partitions. It has a stage for the Commission, a bailiff’s station, court reporter, area for counsel, guest seating, control room for audio visual technicians, a green room, and niches for the FMC’s model ships. The project is designed to hold hybrid meetings that are both in-person and virtual, allowing for actual and digital evidence/witness testimony as well as presentation. The design combines conferencing and courtroom into one. The ceilings hide all of the technology which includes integrated treatment of operable cameras, lights, speakers, microphones, HVAC, low voltage systems, and sprinklers. These were all carefully orchestrated as part of the design aesthetic while taking measures to avoid technical obsolescence, while being incorporated into the design aesthetic.
